According to Haaretz Newspaper: Icelandic low-cost carrier WOW Air is stopping its Israel route this winter, citing operational, logistical and commercial considerations.

The carrier says the main reason is expanding international activity elsewhere and the opening of new routes to new destinations in North America and India, which are in higher demand in winter.

WOW Air only began operating its Israel route in September 2017, offering low-cost flights from Tel Aviv to Reykjavik and, from there, to 10 destinations in North America.

Israel doesn’t appear in its program for the winter season. However, the airline says it has been highly satisfied with the Tel Aviv route and hopes and intends to reinstate it next summer.

WOW Air invested heavily in encouraging and promoting tourism to Israel and in providing excellent service to all its passengers, the company added.

Reassuring people who have bought tickets for summer 2018, WOW Air said all scheduled flights will operate as planned until the end of October.

When it launched in Israel, WOW said its starting price for flights from Israel to the United States via Iceland would be $320. However, the cost of return flights was usually between $500 to $700.

There are three direct flights a week from Tel Aviv to Reykjavik, on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with the return on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
