Reykjavik now included in the flight plan all year round
Good news as well for all Iceland fans: The existing Lufthansa summer destinations of Reykjavik will now also be continued during the winter due to the strong demand. Three times a week, you can fly from Frankfurt to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.
The German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will improve Keflavík Airport as a health resort destination this fall. The company has been flying to Keflavik from Frankfurt during the summer, but next winter will fly three times a week.
The announcement from the airline states that the reason is a high demand.
Isavia has been aiming to increase the number of airlines flying to Iceland through out the year and ranks with the goal of the tourism industry to reduce the seasonal fluctuation in tourism.
It is particularly pleasing that Lufthansa is added to a group of year-round carriers because the Germans have not increased in the winter like tourists of other nations, and there is a great opportunity for introducing the German the Icelandic winter.
Frankfurt Airport is a major airport and Lufthansa’s addition will also improve connections from Iceland to many destinations both Europe and Asia through Frankfurt.
